    Pennsylvania Sexual Harassment Training Requirements

    According to the Pennsylvania Commission on Human Rights, all employers should provide sexual harassment prevention training. See PCHR Guidelines on Sexual Harassment (“employers should take all steps necessary to prevent sexual harassment from occurring, such as affirmatively raising the subject, expressing strong disapproval, developing appropriate sanctions, informing employees of their right to raise and how to raise the issue of harassment under Title VII and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act, and developing methods to sensitize all concerned.”)

    Additionally, EEOC guidelines and court decisions from around the country have made clear that employers should provide workplace harassment training to all employees periodically.

    The training should cover sexual harassment and all other forms of unlawful harassment related to federal and state protected characteristics.

    The Pennsylvania Human Relations Act prohibits workplace harassment and employment discrimination based on protected characteristics such as age (40 or older), ancestry, color, disability, gender identity, national origin, race, religious creed, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, and related conditions), sexual orientation, and status as a user of a guide or support animal due to disability or as a handler or training of such animals.
