Michael Whitener is a Partner with VLP Law Group. His legal practice focuses on two areas: (1) technology transactions, including software licensing and alliances, cloud computing, web hosting and outsourcing agreements; and (2) corporate compliance, particularly regarding data privacy and anti-corruption laws. In the data privacy area, Michael conducts privacy audits and risk assessments, drafts privacy policies and data transfer agreements, and advises on compliance with U.S. and foreign data privacy laws and regulations, including COPPA, HIPAA, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the EU Data Protection Directive (e.g., Safe Harbor certification).
