As of September 2020, new national minimum standards have been adopted by a joint committee for American Land Title Association (ALTA) and National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS). These standards will be placed effective on February 23, 2021. With this day fast approaching, it’s crucial that attorneys review and prepare for the new updates.
In this practical webinar, you will explore the new 2021 Minimum Standard Detail Requirements for ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys and their proper and effective application in a real property transaction. You will also discuss the responsibilities of both the client and the lender when completing an ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify the primary changes in the 2021 ALTA/NSPS Standards vs the 2016 version
- Explain the reason for each of the modifications found in the 2021 Standards
- Summarize each of the optional Table A items found in the 2021 ALTA/NSPS Standards
- Evaluate the appropriateness of each optional Table A item with respect to a given survey and real property transaction
- Outline the process of completing an ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey and the related client/lender responsibilities
- Evaluate and reply to a Surveyor’s negative response to certain lender requests
