Connecticut Mandates COVID-19 Return to Work Training
Connecticut employers are required to provide COVID-19 workplace safety training. The Governor issued an Executive Order directing that rules issued by the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) for each various business sector . . . shall constitute legally binding guidance.”
In turn, the DECD issued industry-specific COVID-19 business rules, including offices, retail, and various other industries. Many of these industry rules require employers to “institute a training program and ensure employee participation in the program before reopening.”
The COVID-19 training must be provided during working hours at no cost to employees and presented in the employees’ language and literacy level. If any on-site duties are subcontracted, the employer’s must ensure subcontractors are appropriately trained.
