The 60-Day Report and Return Final Rule for Medicare Parts A & B – On-Demand

Original Recording Date: March 22nd, 2016
Duration: 75 minutes

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has just published its final rule implementing the Affordable Care Act’s 60-day mandatory report and return statute, which requires healthcare providers to report and return Medicare and Medicaid overpayments within 60 days.  In this practical webinar, you’ll learn about your reporting and refunding obligations under the new rule. You’ll learn how to implement policies and procedures for reporting and refunding identified overpayments. Among other things, you’ll learn about:

  • The 6-month benchmark to complete investigations of potential overpayments and make refunds to Medicare
  • The 6-year look-back period and CMS’s position on using underpayments to offset identified overpayments
  • The need to exercise reasonable diligence when investigating potential overpayments
  • The need to be proactive with compliance activities
  • The implications for Stark self-disclosures
  • Pitfalls to avoid
